The bits and pieces, pain and joy that we call Life. And books. Lots of books. And movies. And this chair. That's all I need. Oh, I need this desk lamp.
The blog is not only entertaining but educational. I now have a vocabulary that includes one Portuguese word "xoxota". I am officially making it my word of the week.
At first I thought that this would be handy to use in online conversation with Ramon, his pseudonym at least having a sort of Spanish flavour, then I remembered that the Brazilians for some inexplicable reason speak Portuguese rather than Spanish, as do the Portuguese for equally inexplicable reasons.
Try as I might, I fail to see any major differences between spoken Spanish and spoken Portuguese and suspect that in the end it comes down to sheer bloody mindedness on the part of the Spanish and Portuguese.
I really think it's something that both countries need to sit down and discuss preferably through an interpreter and settle this thing, once and for all. Especially given the current financial situation in both countries where it would be advantageous for them to move in together if only to save on rent.

Yes but how do we say it, when we casually slip it into our current lexicon?

Well, I imagine Spaniards probably get confused when Christine Lagarde and Mario Draghi come up in conversation and "xoxota" gets thrown around.
