What I hate Monday

In addition to all the recent spammage I've been getting on this blog, what I really, really hate is:

1. when you go to the hairdresser for a haircut

2. when you say ok to a blow wave and it comes out straight

3. when you then go to work and every fucking person in the building comments on your hair, how nice it is, it's gorgeous, it's wonderful, wow, wow, WOWOWOWOWOWOW.

4. then you are left thinking is my normal hair really so shit?

NO MORE STRAIGHT FLAT DOs FOR ME.

Agreed, I never let them straighten my hair because I can't tell if the haircut is any good or not.

Also, did you get In Cold Blood at TBG last week? I went in there today - no copies. But I did get a copy at Brown & Bunting up the road. As well as three old Nancy Drews for one daughter and an Enid Blyton for the littlest one.

I don't like this hot weather for hair either. Is it only me who has to wash it nearly every day due to the heat?

Oh I know it's a good cut, because she's done it before. She is an excellent cutter.

My gut was saying no to the straight do, only because everyone tends to straighten (although I sense a backlash; big hair is coming back in, she said, porno hair) and it looks so common. It's like the homogenisation of women between the ages of 13 and 55.

If being myself means embracing my huge hair, then so be it. It's taken me a while to get to this point.

Going to wash it now...

In Cold Blood? What's TBG? Why do I feel we talked about something and I can't remember what it is?

Ah, the Book Grocer. With you now. Um, what is the author? I only got up to the end of the Ms. Will do Ns to Z next time. Maybe as soon as Wednesday night.

that's what everyone says when I get my hair straightened too!

i hope it's just the change they're wowed about...not over how my natural hair is crap in comparison...

I prefer my hair straightened (because it's about the only way that it's neat - it's fine, and becomes frizzy and flyaway when left natural) but others don't see it the way I do. *shrug*

Fluffballs of the world unite!

The one time I had my hair straightened, I got the same reaction. Instant movie star

But I'll be buggered if I'm gonna waste that much time making my hair flat. I like looking like Lassie

Didn't you have a pic of the books you bought from TBG and they included In Cold Blood by Truman Capote?

Maybe I am thinking of someone else!

Melba said...

Yeah that was me Leilani, but I am an idiot so I didn't remember having bought it.

Der.

I still have them stacked on the stool which was in the photo.

Roald Dahl
Ransom by Jay McInnerney
Roald Dahl again
Anne Enright short stories
Middlesex
And Truman Capote In Cold Blood.

I swear my brain, she doesn't work sometimes. Must be all the friggin hair.

I've got big hair too so maybe that's why my brain is fried. Or perhaps Great book - you will be sure to respect the Capote after that one.

I hope I respect him more than the Philip Seymour-Hoffman version with the annoying voice that I couldn't understand. If I had to pick which was worse, him or Brad Pitt as a gypsy, I swear I wouldn't be able to.

How's this cool?

Mmmmm.

Ok, proper writing first then some diarama.

I've got big old frizzy hair as well. And do you know what I'm going to do when I'm rich? I'm going to get it permanently straightened. Oh yeah. It'll be grouse.
