This is fucking awesome.
It takes commitment, about 30 mins of your time, but it's a real statement of my time, my people, my comedians and actors. The way they can take the piss of themselves; I'd like to see the current young upstarts do something like this.
I wasn't a particular Beastie Boys fan but I always liked their style.
You might want to revisit the original for a refresher before watching the whole thing.

I like stuff with a twist of the absurd but this might just be a little too much for me. It was kind of long for something with so little functioning narrative and kinda, sorta not that much to say (that I could see).
Having said that, I did have a good laugh when the dance-off turned into a literal pissing contest.

I don't really understand this. Who are you comparing to whom?
I guess I'm comparing Will Ferrell to Miranda Kerr, or something like that.
Don't over-think it, man. I just want you to be able to read my mind you know, without me having to be coherent. What's wrong with you??
Funnily, a little while ago, I was talking to someone on a cartoon forum about this, but from kind of a different angle. There's a semi-popular theory that there's a whole generation that's grown up with scripted reality TV and industrially manufactured musical artists and vitriolic satire like The Simpsons, Southpark, Daria and Funny-Or-Die held up as the pinnacle of cleverness; and there's an emerging rejection of this stuff in favour of anything that's perceived to be genuine, sincere and unpretentious -- even if those things are home-made and low-cost. Perhaps kind of like a budding eHippy movement or something, I guess. I don't know if I necessarily believe all of that, but it's an interesting theory, dontcha reckon?
