Breakfast at Tiffany's has gone straight into my top-10 movie list, and then pondering what that list would actually consist of, and if indeed it would be only 10. perhaps it would be a top-10 list of 15 or 20 movies?
5. reading

. Good distraction.
2. reading
the Gathering by Anne Enright and seeing the craftsmanship and how to do it.
3. reading Carl Jung's theories. finally something I can hang my life on. a belief system that's not religion. and it all makes sense and is tangible and believable and awesomely intellectual. carl, baby, where have you been all my life?
things that could be in either of the above groups and i'll never know:
1. going out last night eating cous cous royale with lots of succulent lamb.
2. waking at 4am, lying there for an hour. getting up and reading for the next 3 hours, then sleeping until noon.

Hey INC. I think that first statement referred (in context) to the inclination of human nature to want to have a religious structure to feel comfortable within, and that it's also the human inclination to create such structures. He incorporated his knowledge of religion (along with a bunch of other stuff, including occultism and alchemy) in his pursuit of understanding. My reading of A Primer of Jungian Psychology indicated religion wasn't a majorly big deal for him in his theorising, and there's no individual referencing of it in the index.
The second para I don't disagree with at all - we agree I think that spirituality can be non-religious, and exploring the unconscious realms is definitely non-religious, especially the idea of archetypes and the like.

I have The Dressmaker on my To Be Read shelf AT THIS VERY MOMENT!
I read her other one, the knock-off of My Brilliant Career, and it was personable enough. However, when i told my friendly neighbourhood librarian that i was reading my way through Ham on account of something she'd said to me about Ham being "good", she blanched and disavowed all knowledge of ever having said any such thing.
We'll have to chat about this, and the things you can see wrong with it, some time in the later. K?

Oh thanks squib. I'll try one. I have done one before, the Myers-Briggs which uses alot of Jungian classifications. And that was spot on. I had to pay for that one though, oh ultimate narcissism! It won't have bookseller for me because there can never be just one thing for me. I am like the wind, it's quite annoying.
